West Chester Growers’ Market – Our Last Day!

Fred sold our cheeses on Saturday, March 19th for the last time at the West Chester Growers’ Market! What an awesome market that was for us for the last two seasons! We were so thrilled when we go into the market and it never disappointed us!!!!!!!! The customers there were so loyal, appreciative and supportive! Fred did most of the markets and enjoyed all of them – he loves meeting new people, talking with our “regulars,” and just hanging out!! Thanks to Paul Hauser, Market Manager, and Ellen Watson who was very helpful to us! We will miss you all!!

March 18th was our last day participating in the Kennett Square Farmers’ Market. Fred and I want to thank Abby Morgan for all the help and support she gave to us the two seasons were participated. It was an awesome market with wonderful and faithful customers! Talula’s Table has been with us since our beginning and we can’t thank Aimee Olexy, Kate Stroh and Abby enough for all of their generous and kind efforts that helped make us as successful as we were! THANK YOU EVERYONE! We will truly miss you!

We’re Retiring!

Fred and I have decided that it’s time to retire and move to Maine! We will miss our goats terribly and also our wonderful, awesome, supportive and loyal artisan goat cheese customers! We appreciate all of the support you have given us to make our business so successful! THANK YOU!

Our artisan cheese business is also for sale and Fred and I are handling that. Please contact us at cheese@amazingacresgoatdairy.com for information. The cheese business can be purchased and kept here if you buy the farm, or you may just purchase the business and move it to your location. We hope to see you at one of our final events!! We will be selling cheese through the weekend of March 20th! I’ll post our events so you know where we’ll be!

Mr. T – What A Looker!!!!!!

We had fun with Mr. T last week. My friend, Beth, found a necklace and we thought it was quite fitting for him, especially with the name, Mr. T! What do you think about this guy? Looks quite scary, doesn’t he??????? But, he’s very sweet and calm. He’s back home now and I’m sure he’s glad to be back with his buddies.

Fred brought Mr. T home – Danica will have to wait for an entire year before she sees him again! Luckily, that doesn’t seem to concern goats. They manage to keep themselves occupied with other things!!

Chester County Cheese Artisans’ Dinner at Restaurant Alba

Wow, what a great evening! Sean and Kelly Weinberg, owners of Restaurant Alba in Malvern, hosted a special dinner on Sunday evening, November 7th, and highlighted some of the cheeses made by 5 of the Chester County Cheese Artisans cheesemakers! It was a sold out event and Sean created a fantastic 6-course meal, complete with excellent wine pairings! The cheesemakers spoke to the diners about their cheeses before each course and talked a little bit about their farms and cheesemaking.

Antipasto Course: Bruschetta of Shellbark Hollow Goat Cheese, Asian Pear, Oak Smoked Salmon; Caramelized Kabocha Squash, Yellow Springs Farm Nutcracker with Spiced Pumpkin Seeds; Birchrun Hills Blue Cheese Panada with Roasted Beets, Arugula, QUince VInaigrette.

First Course: Amazing Acres Sea Smoke with Wood Roasted Locally Foraged Mushrooms, Huckleberries and Apple Crema.

LOVE IS IN THE AIR!

It’s fall and that means it’s time to breed our goats so that we’ll have milk next season. We don’t have our own male goat (called a “buck”) so we “rent” a buck for a few weeks each year! This is our second year that Mr. T has graced our farm. We picked Mr. T because of his beautiful spots and also because of his size. He’s a rather large buck and we do have some taller, larger does. Here is Mr. T arriving on the farm on Saturday, October 23rd.

All of the girls were full of excitement when they saw the truck backing down toward the barn!

We’ll be following Danica’s journey into Motherhood beginning with Mr. T’s arrival. Here is Danica on this beautiful fall day knowing that she’s about to become a mother again in a few months. Stay tuned to watch Danica on her journey for the next 5 months!

It’s So Hard to Wait!

We milk our goats one at a time and we let them self-select their milking order. Goats definitely have a “pecking order” and it’s different for different activities. Here is Marly – she’s the last one to be milked this morning and she’s not liking it! I keep telling her to be more assertive if she doesn’t want to be last! She’s a doll.

The weather has been beautiful! The goats are kicking up their heels in the pasture, waiting the arrival of their beau, Mr. T. Hopefully, that will happen next week and the barnyard will be utter chaos for several weeks. We’ll keep you posted!
